6 on 1 off shift calendar 2026

6 on 1 off is six days of work and one day off, every week of the year. Brazil calls it the escala 6x1 and runs most of its shops, restaurants, call centres and small factories on it. A 44 hour week spread over six days is 7 hours 20 minutes a day, which is what the hours on this page assume.

The grid below is the Sunday off version: Monday to Saturday worked, Sunday free. That is the shape most people mean, but the day off can sit on any weekday, and in retail it often moves week to week. To put it somewhere else, build 6 on 1 off in the visualizer linked under the grid.

Suits shops, kitchens and small factories where somebody has to be there six days a week. One day off, usually Sunday, is the whole of your week.

The grid shows a crew whose cycle starts January 1, 2026; other crews run the same rotation offset by a few days. The 7 day cycle divides evenly into weeks, so the rotation never drifts: whatever weekdays a crew works in January, it works in December. Crews on other phases can see very different weekends. To line the pattern up with your real start date, use the interactive shift pattern visualizer.

Put 6 on 1 off 2026 in your calendar

One file, every shift of the year, ready for Apple Calendar, Google Calendar, or Outlook. Shifts import with a default time of 7am to 2:20pm. Edit the times after import if your site runs different hours.

A perfect rotation fits in a calendar file. A real roster does not.

Swaps, overtime, and holiday cover break the pattern. Reading a real roster is what the Lumical app does: photograph it and every shift lands in your calendar, overnights included. We make it, so weigh the recommendation accordingly.

Common questions

How does the 6 on 1 off schedule work?

Six days worked, one day off, then the same again. The cycle is the week itself, so nothing drifts: whatever day you rest in January, you rest in December. In 2026 that comes to 313 shifts and 52 days off.

How many hours a year is 6 on 1 off in 2026?

2,294 hours: 313 shifts of 7 hours 20 minutes, an average of 44 hours a week. That is the Brazilian norm of 44 hours split over six days. Six 8 hour days would come to 48 hours a week instead, which is why the short day is part of the pattern.

Is the day off always Sunday?

Not always. This calendar rests Sunday because that is the version most people search for. Where a business opens seven days, the day off moves around the week instead: Tuesday one week, Thursday the next. Brazilian law still asks for a Sunday off at regular intervals: at least once every three weeks in commerce, once every seven weeks in other trades that open on Sundays.

How many full weekends off does 6 on 1 off give?

None. Saturday is a working day here, so no weekend comes free end to end: 0 out of 52 in 2026. What you do keep is every Sunday, one day at a time, 52 of them across the year.

How does 6 on 1 off compare with 5 on 2 off?

One more working day a week, and it costs you the weekend. Over a year that is about 52 more shifts and 52 fewer days off, one per Saturday. On a 44 hour contract both add up to the same year of work: 6x1 spreads it over six shorter days, 5x2 over five longer ones.

How many days will you work on 6 on 1 off in 2026?

313 shifts, which comes to 2,294 hours at 7 hours 20 minutes each. That leaves 52 days off. The count moves by a shift or two depending on where your crew sits in the cycle on January 1.

How do I get this calendar into Apple Calendar?

Download the .ics file on this page and open it on your iPhone or Mac. Apple Calendar offers to add the whole year in one go. That covers the textbook rotation. A real roster has swaps, overtime and cover shifts, and for that we make Lumical: photograph the roster and every shift lands in Apple Calendar. We make it, so read that with the obvious bias in mind.
